Axon Central

Axon Central creates tools empowering anyone to create useful DIY sensors.

Axon Central was created as an easier way to sense and control the things around us.

When I first started with Arduino, I had no idea how to use them and after a few cryptic how to videos and trying to figure out datasheets; it went on the shelf and stayed there for years.

My first raspberry pi I was a little better (I already had decent Linux knowledge) and I was able to follow tutorials and run web servers, retro games system, but was never really able to use it to run sensors or control things in the physical world without buying multiple "hats" and installing libraries that were written for specific purposes.

I found that Most sensors are really inexpensive and can be hooked up to a development board (like an arduino) with just a few wires. I couldn't understand why noone had built a way to interface inexpensive sensors with a web interface so the real decisions (what you want to happen when the sensor reaches a certain range) could just be choosen from a familiar web interface.

I knew what I wanted; I wanted to be able to have an idea, spend a few secpnds hooking up a sensor, choose a couple of options, and have it all just work without breaking the bank or being overly complex. I wanted my kids to be able to use sensors, to be creative and to actually be able to achieve just about anything they can dream up and I want the world to be positively impacted by the things we create.
I got tired of waiting for someone to make it. So.... I built it!

Axon Central is built so that a brand new user that has never programmed or taken an engineering class can have an idea, grab a sensor module, hook up a couple wires (without soldering), choose a few options from a web friendly interface (without programming) and have it begin interacting with the physical world providing informative feedback and taking real actions within minutes. It's also built so that an advanced hardware/software engineer can enhance, combine, hack, tweak, solder and program every aspect of the system to their own specifications.

My hope is to enable self learners to have huge impacts on the world we live in.
